Jamaican music has never been renown for a proliferation of female singing stars, so those that do make it into the recording studio usually require a degree of talent above and beyond that possessed by their male counterparts. It therefore comes as no surprise that the likes of Marcia Griffiths, Judy Mowatt, Dawn Penn and Doreen Schaeffer have remained at the forefront of their profession for decades.

This collection brings together 40 of the rarest and most sought-after tracks by Jamaicas leading ladies from the sixties and seventies. The majority of these recordings have remained unavailable for decades, with all but three making their debut on Trojan CD. Yet, despite the scarcity of the material, the music is of the highest order and result in possibly the greatest ever collection of female Reggae.
