Brand new Axis praxis, as Jeff Mills revives the Tony Allen project Tomorrow Comes The Harvest, wangling a nifty new 12" out of a live appearance at Nuits Sonores in Brussels, 2022. Conceived by the late Nigerian drummer and Afrobeat originator Tony Allen, together with Detroit techno pioneer Mills and French keyboardist Jean-Phi Dary, the trio first took this freeform mix of future jazz and techno on the road before Allen's death in 2020. The Brussels performance bottles their original intent - a meeting of deep rhythmic tradition and machine-driven improvisation aimed at heightened states - with Mills steering the concept toward ex-possible orbital realms in Allen's absence.
