Deep house great Chez Damier's career was still in its infancy when he pitched up on Kevin Saunderson's KMS imprint way back in 1992. Here 'I Never Knew Love', one of his three outings for the Detroit label gets the reissue treatment . As it was back in the early 90s, the track is presented via a trio of mixes: a piano-powered, gospel-influenced soulful house rub from Mark Kinchen aka MK (then also a rising star), the hands-in-the-air breakbeat-house breeze of the Made In Detroit mix, and the deeper, dreamier and thoroughly absorbing 'Change Up extended mix'. Best of all, though, is Carl Craig's 'reconstruction' of another Damier original, 'Help Myself', which fixes immersive and dreamy deep house sonics and Italo-house pianos to a snappy Motor City techno groove.
