Omar Souleyman is a Syrian musical LEGEND! Since he started performing in 1994 he has released at least 500 live and studio cassette albums (im pretty sure that starting collecting these will be hard, but oh well! you can start here!). This record is Omar's Western debut release in which he culls different songs from when he performed in 1994 to 2006. Omar uses a Mawal-style Arabic singing along with that uses inspirational brakes taken from Iraqi Choubi Choubi styles (not the Choubi Choubi comp on Sublime Frequencies), Turkish and his traditional Syrian sounds of Dabke which in a way is a very intense and bass inspired form of sound in similar lines to Choubi Choubi. This record contains Souleyman's first Syrian hit "Jani" which he released back in 1996 and in turn helped him gain status in the countries such as Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Dubai to name a few.

This is the 2 LP edition and comes in a gorgeous full color gatefold sleeve with photos and text by Mark Gergis (Sublime Frequencies collaborator).
