This definitive two disc set presents remastered versions of Arthur Russell's beautiful orchestral music on CD for the first time: some of this music has never been released before and some has only been previously released at the wrong speed!!

Arthur Russell was a fantastic performer/composer from the Downtown scene of New York in the late 'seventies and 'eighties who recorded a huge range of music including echo-drenched avant-folk, mutant disco, avant-electro, new wave rock, odd-ball rap, and minimalist compostion. We have featured him on both volumes of our New York Noise compilations and have also released a compilation called The World Of Arthur Russell that collects the best of his hard to find leftfield disco output.

Arthur Russell studied Indian classical music and minimalist composition and his orchestral pieces are largely based around post-minimalist drones and variations on unusual alien melodies - it is very immersive music in which you can loose youself and it's staggeringly beautiful, noble and sad. Very Zen!
