Detroit-based Andres (also known as DJ Dez) is the son of Cuban-born musician Humberto Hernandez, an original player in Detroit’s jazz scene who has worked alongside Marcus Belgrave, Travis Biggs, Roy Brooks and other key figures.
Andres has played alongside Theo Parrish as part of his free-flowing collective Rotating Assembly, as well as with the infamous Detroit jazz ensemble Tribe. However he is mostly famed for being DJ to J Dilla's legendary hip-hop group, Slum Village.
Since the late 90s, Andres has been releasing his own material on the Hipnotech, KDJ and Mahogani Music labels.
