Sosyete '25 may be a relatively new band - this is their debut album, following the release of two low-key singles - but the trio of musicians involved are all vastly experienced. Fronted by songwriter/vocalist Merve Endem (Kit Sebastian) and musically directed by producers Glenn Fallows (Gabeflower Masters) and Paul Elliot (Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band), the threesome has a signature sound that mixes and matches elements of Turkish psych-pop, Mediterranean disco and 'outernational funk'. As Yaygara proves, it's a hugely attractive and hard-hitting sound, one that's faithful to its inspirations (and the fuzzy production sound associated with them) while genuinely sounding new and fresh.
