LA neo-soul triplets Moonchild sow a new phase with their sixth album, avoiding the romantic, love-songy centre of earlier records, after which came a phase of loss, repose and reassessment. Amber Navran, Andris Mattson and Max Bryk dance trifold through the washing unplacement of 'Be Free' and the journeying 'Voyager', and 'Not Sorry' with Jill Scott and Rapsody marks the record's teamworking face, 'Up From Here' also checking Robert Glasper and D Smoke, and 'For Yourself' with Lalah Hathaway and Chris Dave. The sound leans more on sampling and live room interplay, a destined return to physical collaboration after years of remote making.
