With Don Sebesky handling arrangements and Joao Donato contributing several compositions, the record balances breezy bossa nova movement with richly detailed jazz orchestration.
'Tema Teimoso' glides along on soft percussion and warm organ lines, then 'Warm Song' carries a hazy and almost cinematic elegance through Hubert Laws' fluid flute work. Elsewhere, 'The Loner' sinks into late-night introspection before 'Cal's Bluedoo' closes things out in blues-leaning fashion. A remarkably graceful set throughout.
