Light-Years thankfully doesn't disappoint - Premier's production is quintessential in that it is hard, soulful and impossibly well-constructed, while Nas brings the poetic precision and biographical depth that has defined his finest work while touching on memory, legacy and identity across 15 tracks.
'NY State of Mind Pt. 3' is an obvious standout, while the AZ collaboration and Steve Miller Band interpolation show Nas is still able to surprise. Mike Del Mundo's Marvel-commissioned artwork makes the whole thing suitably mythological.
