Born in 1935, Jimmy Preacher Ellis plied his funky R&B craft on the West Coast and in Texas/Oklahoma, to limited appreciation despite being in possession of one of the most distinctive blues voices.
His first singing experiences came in church - from his birthpace in rural Arkansas to adopted city of Seattle - eventually coming to the attention of Reverend F.F. Billups, who asked Jimmy to join his 'Traveling Four'. After a stint of military service, he was back in late 50s Seattle and began to seriously pursue his interest in playing the guitar, setting up a doo-wop group. Finally, in 1964 Ellis became a solo blues act, and a legend was born.
The 12-page CD booklet contains his detailed biography incl. Label scans and promotional photographs. The vinyl version comes as a deluxe double-gatefold LP.
