This latest 7" comes from Leslie Butler and The Messengers, a busy band who know a thing or two about laying down authentic rhythms. They take care of the A-side which is a relatively uptempo with fat bass and drums sat perfectly in it. Natty riffs compliment the groove as do some subtle string souls, hand claps and vocal effects that layer up vocal snippets while the main vocal soars up top. Leslie Butler's 'Strange Compulsion' offers a summery reggae sound with spaced-out effects.
