Wow! This is an awesome and comprehensive two CD "best of" which collects all the classic tracks from all of the labels he recorded for. Pharoah Sanders was one of the leading three 'new thing' saxophonists of the 60s (John Coltrane, he, and Albert Ayler were known as the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost!) and from the mid 60s to the early 80s he recorded a faultless and fantastic string of classic deep jazz albums which have long been firm favourites among collectors. He has all the force and vigour of Albert Ayler and John Coltrane but manages to channel the abrassiveness and dissonance of his sound into a joyous and spiritually uplifting music that is instantly recognisable! This 2 CD set really is the bees-knees of deep jazz with some of the most beautiful tracks imaginable. Essential!
