Mo Kolours' self-titled album debut for One-Handed Music follows a trio of EPs that mixed soul, dub, hip-hop, afro-beat and strung-out house music and other electronic music styles. This musical trademark, championed by Gilles Peterson, drew inspiration from British groups like The Specials and Cymande, who put their own stamp on the sounds of ska, funk and calypso coming from overseas in the ’70s.
