Daniel Martin-McCormick aka Ital was definitely the man on a lot of folks lips last year, after a succession of interesting hazy house singles on Not Not Fun and their sub-label 100% Silk. This new album on Planet Mu sees Ital switching up his style.
Killer intro track 'Doesn't Matter (If You Love Him) uses a confidently repeated Lady Gaga sample, a Dabrye-style gritty drum and grindin' b-line and bombing synth swirls. 'Floridian World' gently eases you into an hyper-coloured vortex, marrying treated vocals with fuzzy, new age soundscapes. 'Privacy Settings' sounds like the soundtrack to Total Recall when Arnie goes to Mars, ya know?, if not, creepy wolf howls over a slow-mo bassline and faraway banging drums. 'Israel'picks up the pace again, cyber chords, ricocheting dubby toms and echoed synthwork, 'First Wave finishes the album with discofied, detroit beatdown groove. Very highly recommended!
