Detroit rapper Danny Brown has always thrived on chaos, and his sixth album pushes that impulse into Warp Records' experimental orbit. Stardust is his most collaborative project yet, roping in a generation of leftfield producers and internet-born voices to twist his raw delivery into strange new shapes. Lead single 'Starburst', produced by Portuguese DJ Holly, set the tone with its candy-coated menace, while Quadeca frames 'Book of Daniel' and 'What You See' as widescreen confessionals. Underscores lends their neon touch to 'Copycats' and 'Baby', Frost Children and Umru spark manic energy on 'Green Light', and Jane Remover closes with the brittle sweetness of 'All4U'. The sprawling 'The End', featuring Ta Ukra?nka, Zheani and Cynthoni, stretches nearly nine minutes, a maximalist finale that mirrors the album's restless spirit. Equal parts unhinged and oddly tender, it's Danny Brown at his most unpredictable, and a record that stares down the internet age with humour, anxiety and flashes of brilliance.
