In summer 2004, Nurse With Wound (Steven Stapleton and Colin Potter) traveled to the Arctic Lofoten Islands at the invitation of Kunst I Nordland, a remote art initiative and residency inviting world-class artists to the sparsely-populated, arctic Norweigan county, Nordland. Working from a small local studio let, the avant-gardes recorded and mangled local sounds, forming them into a series of experimental radio transmissions broadcast over two months. Imagine standing in the dead centre of a fjord, tuning the ham radio to this! Much of the material was previously released as Shipwreck Radio Volume 1, now long out of print. For the first time on vinyl, it returns in a deluxe three-disc boxset with spot-varnished finish, a full-colour two-page insert featuring original photographs and new written material. Colin Potter has carefully remastered the audio, preserving the haunting textures and unconventional soundscapes that define this extraordinary Arctic project.
