Lifted from Gilles Peterson's 2024 album, the track hits harder on its own. Its delightful disco-jazz drive stretches out into a peak-time weapon with enough heft for serious systems. It is fluid, muscular and yet doused in vulnerability with the falsetto vocal soaring and majestic chords. The flip keeps the quality high with 'The Essence of Jai', a slower, deeper cut that leans into mood and movement with a softer sense. Closing the circle is a previously unreleased take on 'Song for My Father', which is closer in spirit to Leon Thomas' version - soulful and beautifully unhurried.
