His voice dominated so consistently that people joked the contests were rigged. After a health scare in 1985, Jordan shifted from secular soul to gospel but kept his signature warmth while channelling his energy into uplifting younger listeners. The result was 'Excitement (Rap For Jesus)', a gospel-rap hybrid recorded with local musicians to meet hip-hop's rising moment. Nearly lost to time, the track resurfaced in 2022 when collector Brian Sears unearthed a worn copy in a Little Rock parking lot and began tracing Jordan's story. Today, the singer still brings that same fire to his Columbus church.
