Wow! Essential 'new thing' British jazz rarity reissued! The ever-excellent Trunk records have definitely come up trumps with this release! This is the first ever reissue of the rare-as-hens-teeth 1964 10" album from cult British jazz pianist Michal Garrick (pressed in a short run of just 99 copies!) Michael Garrick was a pioneer of British modern jazz best known for his Herbie Hancock/Bill Evans-style romanticism, but this recording was a departure into 'new thing' space jazz abstraction, and one of the earliest examples of a British exploration of the new style of jazz that was then being popularised in the US by players such as John Coltrane and Cecil Taylor! This is a lovingly reissued package crammed with Johnny Trunk's signature sleeve notes, and even some of Michael Garrick's poetry! Highly recommended! Vinyl is VERY limitted!
