Recorded in 1961, this was Joao Gilberto's third and final album for Odeon. With arrangements by Walter Wanderley and Tom Jobim, Gilberto delivers a vocal masterclass on bossa nova standards by Jobim, Vinicius De Moraes and Carlos Lyra but also beautiful interpretations of songs from his home-state of Bahia by Dorival Caymmi.
Amazingly, the CD also contains an extra bonus of 23 tracks by other artists of the same songs: Maysa, Leny Andrade, Sylvia Telles and Jon Hendricks, amongst others. Fabulous music, exceptional value!
