Over the years, so many top-notch DJs, producers and re-editors have turned their hand to remixing cuts from Salsoul Records' vast catalogue of original disco and boogie hits. Now it's the turn of Dutch duo and Heist Recordings founders Dam Swindle. They first rework First Choice's peerless (and much-tweaked) 'Let No Man Put Asunder', giving the killer cut a kind of loose-and-rolling organic deep house flavour via a combination of rearranged original elements and a few choice additions of their own. It's a great update all told and one which is both tasteful and surprisingly fresh. Over on the reverse, they tweak a lesser-known Salsoul nugget - Montreal man Pat Deserio aka Kebelektriks 1978 synth-disco throbber 'War Dance'. Dam Swindle's take is deliciously spacey, sounding like a light-touch update of a forgotten Patrick Cowley jam.
