One of the most original and unique musicians in Latin America is Abelardo Carbono. His music, which could be described as "proto champeta", is the result of many influences: Congolese music, cumbia, disco, Afrobeat, pop, Haitian compas, psychedelic guitar. Abelardo's trademark is the ability to recycle bits of just about anything into a captivating rhythmic groove.
