During the early-to-mid 1980s, Washington D.C.-based musician Richard Simms crafted his own leftfield, punk-minded take on electronic funk under the Wicked Witch alias. While built around popping electro drums and headline-grabbing synths, Simms' work was thoroughly experimental in outlook, and has subsequently become cult listening. This first plate of this excellent double-pack contains a freshly re-mastered version of one of his best cuts, "Under Your Spell", Simms' new re-make of the same track (it's even wilder, but also more melodic, interestingly), and two previously unreleased gems. Meanwhile, the second disc boasts a brilliantly heavy, floor-friendly, breakbeat-driven remix of "Take A Bite Of Brains" by DJ Slyngshot, and a thrillingly wonky, acid-driven interpretation of "In The Way Of WSB" by YYPYY.
