Founded in 1971 by famous British arranger-composer-conductor Syd Dale, Amphonic Music rapidly established itself as one of Britain's premier sources of library music. Amphonic was originally intended as a platform solely for Syd's compositions, but many of Syd's colleagues ended up composing for the company, and some of their best work for Amphonic is compiled here. The sounds range from dreamy and relaxed to brash and brassy, and are united by four factors: i. emphasis on melody, ii. rich and colourful harmonies, iii. modern rhythms, iv. first-class musicianship. In other words it's all highly musical, expertly performed and therefore highly listenable. Titles include the funky big band grooves of Setting the Scene, Salvador Set Up, Two Tone and Vegas Venue, the smooth easy listening sounds of Winsome, Shifting Sands of Sound, Tomorrow is Now and Long Time Gone and the disco-funk of Sky Cruiser and much more besides. Remastered from the original analogue stereo tapes. First time on CD.
