Super Fly (1972) Directed by Gordon Parks, Music by Curtis Mayfield

    Warner Brothers

The definitive 1972 black action film that started the genre off. Directed by Gordon Parks, Jr., and stars Ron O'Neal as Youngblood Priest, a drug dealer who is trying to quit the underworld drug business. Includes all the killer music by Curtis Mayfield who also features in the film playing live. With elements of kung-fu, crime film and questions of black identity running throughout this really is unmissable. Also features some of the hippest clothes ever plus the inner-city streets of the USA in the early 1970s. Essential!
