"'Searching' was self-recorded by Ronald Langestraat in his living room on a 4-Track Tape Recorder in 1984. The Amsterdam based multi instrumentalist and composer had grown disillusioned with the local, rather high brow jazz scene at the time and decided to record a very intimate album which would reflect on his quest for his signature sound. For this album he turned to all his musical influences mixing Latin American, African and Eastern rhythmical patterns with inventive composing, using slightly distorted vocals to create an unique form of low-fi, soul jazz. A genre he calls "space jazz". Having played since the early sixties in various Dutch Latin and Jazz bands including Ritmo Natural, Ronald played an instrumental role in introducing world music to the Western world; like his father, visionary bandleader Willie Langestraat/Languestra.

On this album Ronald played Acoustic Piano, Fender Rhodes Piano, Farfisa Organ, String Ensemble, Tenor Sax, Alt Sax, Soprano Sax, Clarinet, Alt Clarinet, Organ Bass, Micro Moog, Drums and Longa. The album was originally self released on CD only and given away to friends and family. An encounter somewhere late at night in Amsterdam, 34 years later, led to the rediscovery of the recordings and the now re-mastered vinyl edition of 'Searching'."
