Niney The Observer, aka Sir Niney The Conqueror. Sir Niney’s ‘Music Police’ is a cool and deadly instrumental, highly sought after by Studio 1 collectors and other roots reggae aficionados. Recorded at Coxsone Dodd’s Studio 1 circa 1971 and released on Niney’s own Destroyer label in very limited quantities on pre-release, with ‘Cocaine Doctor’ on the flip, both tracks are accompanied by the core of The Upsetters Band (comprised of Family Man and Carlton Barrett, and Alva ‘Reggie’ Lewis), along with Jackie Mittoo on keyboards. Both tracks were engineered by Sylvan Morris, who licks the spring reverb on ‘Music Police’ to full effect !
