This set recorded in Philadelphia in late 1966 is an invaluable document for students of the incomparable saxophonist's career, providing a piece in the jigsaw of tracing his musical development in the final months of his life. Slightly less harsh in tone than the April 1967 Olatunji set, this is nevertheless a clear expression of the free direction in which Trane was headed at the time.
