Soukous from Congolese rumba musician Jean Raph Loumbet, made for the dancefloor who came to the Ivory Coast in 1966 from the Congo, joining the group 'Les Zoulos' from Abidjan. Loumbert had been a member of Muchacha Jazz in Kinshasha. Loumbert developed the 'Coupé Décalé' sound, a blend of “Congolese Soukous, Nigerian Afro-Beat and Ivorian roots music.
