Secondhand original paperback book

    Description:

Jamaica's mounting external debt problems throughout the 1980s, and the associated package of structural adjustment measures which the international lenders insisted on, gave rise to a rapidly deteriorating situation for many people in Jamaica, especially the poorest. Jamaica: Debt and Poverty examines the origins of Jamaica's debt problems in both the structure of the Jamaican economy and in the relations of dependence which were to a large extent the legacy of colonialism. In a set of interviews with Jamaicans, the real impact of economic problems on people's everyday lives is vividly revealed.
