Written almost 40 years ago by the legendary Sister Audrey, English Girl was one of the first songs recorded at the "new Ariwa Studios" in Gautrey Road, Peckham, and was released on Jah Shaka's label after the overwhelming response at dances. This was one several Shaka / Ariwa partnerships from the 80s. Now in 2018 the song is re-emerging as the theme of the Windrush Generation, Especially the verse "now 40 years later, we must go and get some papers" This is one of the Roots Reggae Classics..
