Samba legend Elza Soares, as featured on Gilles Peterson’s recent Sonzeira: 'Brasil Bam Bam Bam' album, covers Jorge Ben’s classic ‘Mas Que Nada’. Toughened up drums and a more jazzy vibe on this version make this one for the dancefloor. This track originally featured on her 'Samba's & Mais Samba's' LP on Odeon in 1970.
Not a great deal is known about ‘Elizabeth’ but she was apparently involved in the ‘Jovem Guarda’ movement. This track was found at the now defunct, ‘Tony’s Hits’ in Sao Paulo. The record was originally released on 7” on RGE in 1970.
