Come is the album with which Prince ‘killed’ off his former persona (the black and white cover picture of Prince standing outside a church sets the funereal tone) to highlight his growing frustration with Warner Brothers over their ownership and control of his music, as well as in protest at the closure of his label Paisley Park Records by Warner on 1 February 1994.
