During disco's 70's heyday, 17-year-old busboy Eddie Adams (Mark Wahlberg) is looking for a break when he is spotted by veteran porn director Jack Horner (Burt Reynolds). Horner rechristens Eddie 'Dirk Diggler' and makes him a star of adult cinema. Eddie enjoys a hedonistic lifestyle on the strength of his new-found fame, but by the 1980s his popularity is on the wane, as video takes over from film and the porn industry loses its innocence. Soundtrack includes classic tracks by the Emotions, the Commodores and Marvin Gaye.
