The name never gained the international recognition of Bob Marley’s, but Augustus Pablo is one of reggae's legitimate legends, a pioneer who flipped the genre completely upside down. Along with producer King Tubby Pablo pioneered dub – no mean feat considering his main instrument was the lowly melodica. Beginning in 1972, he released a string of brilliant singles on his own Rockers label. These became the ‘Rockers sound’ which shook 70s Jamaica to its foundation. And so here they are - classic recordings from a defining era - some with fellow legends King Tubby and Lee Perry, but all stamped with the indelible imprint of the master. Unique compilation of classic singles and album tracks from legendary producer and melodica player Augustus Pablo. Selected exclusively from Pablo’s most acclaimed recordings for his own Rockers label this is the essential Pablo compilation. Compiled by noted reggae writer and former friend of Pablo, Ian McCann, the album features both vocal and instrumental tracks.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
