Idjut Boys / Minjung Kate Kim WTF: Further Adventures Of The WTF Band

    Bite The Day
      • 1. WTF (Word Salad Version)
      • 2. WTF (Conical Squares Version)

The Idjut Boys imaginary WTF Band - part of their bid to (and we quote) "replace BPM with LOL" - comes out of hibernation to handle the third release on the long serving duo's thus far impressive Bite The Day imprint. Featuring layered (and predictably dubbed-out) stream-of-consciousness spoken word vocals by Minjung Kate Kim, 'WTF' is a thrillingly odd, spaced-out amd mind-mangling affair. For proof, check the A-side 'Word Salad Version', where flashes of Kim's vocal and genuinely bizarre and out-there electronic effects ride a sparse, metallic and trippy mutant electro beat. It's the kind of industrial-fired mutant electro-dub masterpiece that we'd expect to emerge from the studio of Adrian Sherwood. On the flip-side 'Conical Squares' take, Dan and Conrad take us ever further into dubbed-out deep space, with floating percussion hits and vocal snippets rubbing shoulders with deep, dirty bass in a kind of mutilated ambient dub soup. Thoroughly bonkers and utterly inspired: what's not to like!
