Stones Throw chuck a curveball out at the heads - this idiosyncratic album from The Stepkids. It's rocky at first, then jazzy, funky, psych-folky, fuzzy, poppy, and so on. Maybe that's to do with them being a three-piece of individually accomplished singer-songwriters who score movies and commercials and play in tour-bands for Alicia Keys, Lauren Hill, 50 Cent - but anyway it makes for a great, odd album. Written, produced, recorded to tape and engineered by the band (Dan Edinberg, Jeff Gitelman, Tim Walsh).
