Hopeton "Scientist" Brown is pretty much a sacred name to any dub aficionado worth their rolling skills. Starting his trade as an assistant engineer for King Tubby, Scientist moved on to become the principal engineer for Channel One Studios, then Tuff Gong and from here went on to produce and mix many albums for the likes of The Roots Radics, Barrington levy and Linval Thompson.

'In the Kingdom Of Dub' is his seminal album from 1980, and comes bearing the instrumental skills of the riddim twins Sly & Robbie, with additional input from the many of JA's finest players. Scientist's dubs have consistently been signified by his wild application of the dub FX tools at his disposal with tough riddims coated in wicked reverb, tape delay and echo laid down with a touch comparable to his peers Lee "Scratch" Perry, King Tubby or King Jammy, but always retaining that watermark of unhinged Scientist cheekiness. Recommended!
