A great title, a striking sleeve and, above all, superb library music gets reissued here having been remastered by Simon Francis from the original Music De Wolfe tapes. Soul City Orchestra's 'Meal Ticket' was originally issued in 1977 on Rouge, and is an album crafted by in-house composers Chris Rae and Frank McDonald. The A side delivers driving instrumental funk-rock laced with dramatic strings, full of purpose and pace. Yet it is the flip that truly elevates the set, moving into titanic funk, mellow groove and symphonic disco-soul. A cornerstone of British library brilliance.
