    • 2. My Place

**MONSTER boogie anthem reissued on 45!**

A clubland favourite amongst boogie and soul fans, Circle City Band’s ’Magic’ is made available on 45, coupled for the first time with the band’s follow-up single ‘My Place’.

Originally released in 1983 on Tyscot sub-label Circle City Records, ’Magic’ was a best-selling single in the band’s hometown Indianapolis. Whilst making waves across the Midwest US R&B charts, it became a popular import in the UK and a staple for DJs, often being described as one of the best Slave soundalikes from the early 80s with its classic bass groove and appeal.

Swave Villi Us: Independent Soul 1971-84Backatcha

**RIYL the classic 'Personal Space Electronic Soul 1974-1984' compilation!**

Backatcha Records presents 'Swave Villi Us', a collection of sixteen sought after independent soul cuts, recorded between 1971-1984 from across the US and beyond.

The album comes as a 2xLP, complete with extensive sleeve notes, featuring top-shelf rarities end-to-end. Whilst soul 45 aficionados will be familiar with the titles, obtaining them has always been a problem until now.

From 70s Californian psych-folk, to downtempo ballads from the Southern states, to mid-tempo gems and sweet soul from the Midwest, to 80s Sunshine State talent show entries and Bahamian dreamy percussion-led guitar jams, the selection showcases essential top-shelf regional sounds spanning the broader soul spectrum across nearly two decades. Also featured are two previously unreleased versions of Nature’s Choice ‘Never Get A Chance’ and Watch Tower’s ‘Forever, Together’ led by Ohio talent Maurice Moore, from original session tapes and exclusive to this compilation.

Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou DahomeyGbeti Ma Djro / Angelina IIAcid Jazz Records / Albarika Store

More dancefloor dynamite from Benin's almighty Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou Dahomey, this time in the form of 'Gbeti Ma Djro'. Confusingly described on the centre label of the 1971 original issue as ’Soul’, this is in fact a prime slice of Afro-psych-funk complete with wails and grunts over fierce drums and picked guitar. 'Angelina II’ is a much warmer affair that rides a shuffling mid-tempo pachanga groove.
