Hessle Audio was co-founded by David Kennedy (Pearson Sound/Ramadaman), Kevin McAuley (Pangaea) and Ben Thomson (Ben UFO) in 2007 and has since grown to one of the most in-demand, consistent, forward-thinking UK bass labels around.
The 24-track CD is split of over two discs; the first disc boasts new forthcoming material from the labels growing roster of artists whilst the second reminisces with well-loved past productions. Highlights include Elgato's 'Music (Body Mix )', a melodic slo-mo number with shuffling beats, deep bass and catchy glassy swirling chimes. Untold blows up the calm with a naughty android synthline over funky house beat on 'Cool Story Bro'; Badman Blawan brings it again on 'Potchla Vee' applying his signature tuff, minimal production style with an assault of tribal drums and processed grunts; Pearson Sound's absolutely rude slo-burner 'Stifle' also features here; Pangaea adds a bit of dancehall flavour to 'Runout' with a ragga vocal, the track is layered with a bouncy acid bassline, creating a phantom jump up effect - Seriously good! On the second the lads have compiled some of the most influential and prehaps overlooked past tracks from Martyn's legendary 'Broken Heart' remix, Ramadanman's mindblowing 'Don't Change For Me' and Joe's drum-heavy sparse killer 'Rut'.
A huge recommendation - ESSENTIAL!
