After releasing admired material from Sa Pa, Mamma, Angel Hunt, Emer and Corona Haraway, Sheffield based Short Span has snaffled a fresh 12" from Vancouver-based producer, chef and all-round musical hero Yu Su. While much of her material of recent years has shied away from the demands of the dancefloor, the Chinese artist is in full-on club rocking mode here. For proof, check 'Foundry', where the raw bass and glitchy percussion dynamics of minimal techno come accompanied by lo-fi bleeps, jacking drum fills, hallucinatory acid lines and otherworldly melodic motifs. She continues to explore the dustiness and depth of minimal techno on 'Bonita', an even deeper and hazier affair marked out by atmospheric ambient chords, crackling beats and deep space lead lines.
