He is described as "the Godfather of Britfunk” and Root Jackson’s 9-piece band F.B.I. (Funky Business Inc) caused a sensation on the British Funk scene in the 1970s. Regulars at Ronnie Scott’s, the band also supported KOOL & THE GANG and THE TEMPTATIONS and toured with BEN E. KING.

Their self-titled debut album was originally released in 1976 on Tony Visconti’s fledgling Good Earth label. Its legendary status was further cemented in 2000 with a much sought-after reissue on Soul Brother records. Bonus tracks for this expanded edition include two previously unreleased live performances, recorded in 1976.

F.B.I.’s rhythmic, soulful sound has drawn comparisons to the early EARTH, WIND & FIRE and has influenced generations of British R&B artists including INCOGNITO, BRAND NEW HEAVIES and SOUL II SOUL. BBR is very proud to present F.B.I. in full and expanded form, complete with extensive liner notes that feature interviews along with added bonus tracks.
