Recorded in Colombia and Ecuador in 1967, this is excellent stuff. The slave trade forcibly displaced Africans to the Caribbean. Some slaves arrived or escaped at the top part of South America (just below the West Indies). This music is a crazy, mad mix of African-derived rhythms and chants and traditional native Indian-derived music of South America.
