Brilliant second album from Actress sounding like a futuristic mash up of Prince, Jimmy Jam & Jerry Lewis, Moodymann and Anthony Shake Shakir!

Actress aka Darren Cunningham runs Werk Discs, who have released everything from hyper rave pastiche of Zomby to the the wonky hip hop rumbllings of Lukid and of course Actress' highly acclaimed first album Hazyville!

'Splazsh' picks up from 'Hazyville' left off although the fog seems to have lifted slightly, his sounds are less submerged than before, but still sticky and close — a signature combination of exuberance and introversion, luminescence and puzzlement. The album embodies various different styles from ambient blissful House, thumpin' Detroit Techno, R&B, Hip hop in a way only Actress could do. The tracks on 'Splazsh' are studies of different records that he loves. 'Hubble' which we've heard on his previously annoymous limited imprint 'Thriller' is a study of Prince's 'Erotic City' and 'Human' was a study by Human League's 'human' produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis all twisted up into Actress' formidable style.
