ESSENTIAL compilation of some of the classic tracks from "London's Paradise Garage"!
Dingwalls was the venue for the now-legendary jazz dance club where Gilles Peterson and Patrick Forge made their mark on UK clubbing with an extremely eclectic high energy mix of jazz dance, rare groove, fusion, latin, and the newer sounds of hip hop and house: joining the dots...!
The club began to attract a stylish crowd of smartly dressed serious dancers who got off on the diversity of the rhythms and the energy and spirituality of the music; and this coincided with a blossoming of UK musical talent in the form of the mighty Soul II Soul and a number of "acid jazz" bands who would give the visiting US acts a run for their money!
This superb compilation is a wonderful record of these exciting times and comes with sleeve notes from both Patrick Forge and Gillles Peterson and loads of photos!
Highly recommended!
NB: Not all tracks are included on vinyl version.
