    • 2. Alton Ellis – Be True

Featuring a much-coveted mid tempo soul duet performed by music giants Alton Ellis and Slim Smith, coupled with a conscious reggae funk cut from Ellis - both tracks were recorded in 1971 at Chalk Farm Studios. Producer Stanley Pemberton recounts the timeline of events that led to their initial session, supplying Ellis early mixes to release in Jamaica, overdubbing the masters south of the river at Manfred Mann's Workhouse Studios, to gaining a major production deal and releasing two singles on A&M Records.

Three KILLER 7" from Backatcha...won't be around long!
