Paul Lowe Let's Work It Out / Make Things Better

    Stroom
      • 1. Let's Work It Out
      • 2. Make Things Better

Recorded in a small 8-track studio in ’79, both sides slot into Stroom’s usually Euro-centric agenda on account of their timeless, play-it-again-and-again quality and a DIY verve shared by much of the roster. The A-side’s ‘Let’s Work It Out’ edges in with excellent use of windswept concrète foley and languid strums that gel into a super nice ’n easy soul stroller, graced by Lowe’s breezy falsetto and subtly freckled with studio magique that draws the ear into his crepuscular vibe. If you aren’t smitten by the time of his melancholic bridge, you may need to see a doctor.
