American keyboardist and songwriter Brian Jackson, long entwined with Gil Scott-Heron's radical soul canon, revisits that repertoire with a sprawling cast of collaborators. The project carries the air of a conversation across decades. 'The Bottle', here voiced by Omar, keeps its rolling streetwise pulse while softening into a warmer groove.

Black Thought steps into 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised' with a sharp modern cadence that cuts through the arrangement. Later, 'Winter in America' unfolds slowly with Rich Medina, its melancholy melody hanging in the air like a long memory returning.
